Things I'll miss

God willing, we'll be moving in the next year. We have the area in mind, and its not too far from here. But I was thinking on Tuesday about what I'll miss from this neighborhood.

1. The Belleview Gargoyles! I've mentioned them in the past. A creative person dresses up her gargoyles for each holiday, season, event! I don't see them as much as I used to, but I look forward to it.

2. The view of the mountains from Belleview and Clarkson. True beauty from the heart of the Creator!

3. Hearing the band playing at the nearby stadium from our house. Its not too loud, but just enough to make me ready to go march again!

4. Mich....our neighbor...and her family. What will we do without her knock on our door and willingness to play?

5. The place I brought my babies home to!

Home is much more than a structure, so I know so many of our memories and traditions go with us. I'm looking forward to seeing what God has planned for us next, but this place has been good for us. Thanks sweet Jesus for this home and how you've grown us while we are here. May your wisdom direct us in the next stage of our lives.

Thoughts from Sunday

On our brothers and sisters in Christ
We have so much fun with the believers we meet together with on Sundays. We supposed to be in a hurry to get to LeAnn's party, and we kept running in to fun people to talk to. We talked with Trina's Sunday School teachers and some other friends....one of whom takes care of a lot of things at the church and gave Trina a ride on the lift that they use to change lights and sound equipment up on the ceiling. (Alex had fun watching, but was not interested in the ride) It was hard to get going!

On football
I'm SOOOOO glad that the Chargers got whuped! I'm no Patriots fan, but I choose the lesser of two evils. My bro-in-law is trying to convince me that the whole "cheating" incident by the Patriots earlier this year was not the whole story, and that they should not be punished more than they have been. Not sure I'm convinced yet.

I really didn't care between the Packers and the Giants. The Packers' kicker went to CU, but the Giants picked up Dominick Hixon after the Broncos let him go mid season....and now he's going to the SuperBowl. Sometimes the bad really turns out good in the end.

As far as who should win the SuperBowl...maybe I'll pull for the Giants since they are the underdog. *shrug* Doesn't really matter to me...I haven't been to either place.

On family
What fun to celebrate LeAnn's birthday with lots and lots of talking. :) I may have watched less football than I expected, but I definitely don't regret it. Now, if only we could solve it all during those sessions.

On Labyrinth
We watched Jim Henson's Labyrinth last night. What a fun fantasy film. The part that hit the hardest was the JunkLady. This lady is piled high with trash, and she's trying to distract Sara from her quest to rescue her brother. The JunkLady keeps bringing Sara all her old toys and piling them up on her, so she won't remember what she was doing. Sara finally says, "It's all junk!" And then the room collapses, and she escapes to her friends. This film is 1984ish...and the things they do with Muppets is totally amazing.

Saltines

On Monday, we had a pretty low key day. We didn't do much, and we didn't go anywhere. When Trina talked to her daddy late in the day, he asked what her favorite part of her day was. She said, "I ate some saltines". I laughed out loud. I knew why she said it...it was because she was hungry and that was the only snack I'd allow since dinner was close to ready. But I decided it was very descriptive of our day.

So, it was a saltine kind of day....bland....no big deal...nothing to report.

How many days are like that? More than I'd like to admit. And yet, sometimes we just need to take a moment to live and enjoy the fun, silly, and lovely. Yesterday, my kids sat on the kitchen counter while I took turns dancing with them to "You are being loved" We had so much fun together!

I think the This Moment CD by Steven Curtis Chapman is my soundtrack right now.

Dancing in the kitchen with mom is one of my favorite memories from growing up...and NOW I'm the mom. And we had moments for me to sing my love and God's love to them. It was anything but saltine!

Una siesta

I was just visiting LPM, and Beth said we should do a roll call. I don't usually comment on big blogs of folks I don't know, but I noticed there were no comments yet. I figured...hey, if I'm first...I guess I would at least get my comment read. So, I comment and submit...and realize that comments need to be approved, so I am likely not the first one to comment. *sigh* oh well!

But one thing we were supposed to post was our favorite truth right now....and Zeph 3:17 is what stuck out to me. I got the This Moment CD by Steven Curtis Chapman...and it has some amazing songs on it. One is called "I am being loved" and its based off this scripture. I almost posted that on my comment, but then I thought I'd better set a good example...since I'm "first" and all, and just put down what Beth asked for. Now that I'm likely middle of the pack, I wish I'd just done it. Oh well, its the rule abider in me.

I'll post a comment to tell you how far down I ended up. she posted around 11:30, and I posted a little over an hour later. Not sure why you'd care, but oh well.

For the King...

Saturday morning, Roger got up early and made breakfast. Then we all got ready and headed to the theater for our church's private showing of "The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything--A VeggieTales Movie" What fun it was to take the kids to something I was so excited to see. It was Alex's first time to the theater, and he did remarkably well. The show was great! I enjoyed it so much that its hard to find my favorite part. (what was your favorite part? being the big question at our house) I enjoyed the character development! I like how the characters changed and grew. I liked the fun jokes....tea or tivo? The movie lived up to my expectations... Thanks Phil, Mike and crew! The movie came in number 9 in the ratings this weekend. :)

Now...can you help keep it in the top 10?

I can't wait...its 2008!

OK...so Trina came up with that little ditty. :)

Let me tell you...yesterday held a momentous occasion for me. After 1 1/2 years (6 months of hard work...7 months of freaking out...and 5 months of working hard again), I finished my packet for becoming a certified Lactation Educator. Right on time for what I promised my bosses, and whew! I'm so glad its done. I consider myself a Lactation Educator already, but once they grade it and as long as I pass, I'll be certified, so that is a great relief! Thanks to all of you who prayed for me during this time.

Last night was nice. Instead of feeling sad that we didn't have plans, I was glad. I just wanted to be home with my man. Roger bought a word search game you can play head-to-head, so we played for a while. We rented The HitchHiker's Guide to the Galaxy and enjoyed it...then toasted with some Martinelli's after midnight came.

This morning we went to the Original Pancake House for Breakfast, and I got a Dutch Baby. It was so yummy....takes me back to when Mom used to make those for me. It take a little longer to make, but I highly reccommend it. They serve it with lemon wedges, powdered sugar, and butter. I tried those. The sugar wasn't bad, but I'm glad I asked for some jam. That's how I like mine. Roger had some of mine with syrup, which is also good.

Now that I'm done with my CLE packet, I am looking forward to reading the book I got for Christmas. And taking down Christmas decorations, and getting our home back in order.
