11

11 years of married love
11 years of fun times
11 years of sacrifice
11 years of memories
11 years of the hard times
11 years of the joy!

After Roger being at a conference all last week, I was so blessed to go and meet him at Copper Mountain for our anniversary! We had so much to catch up on!

It was beautiful! When I look at the mountains, I fall in love with God over and over again. If He can make something like that--imagine His beauty!

Roger and I enjoyed an elegant meal and uninterrupted night's sleep. The next day we shopped a little, and headed down the mountain. We ended up spending 2 hours at Elitch Gardens on a whim before picking up the kiddos. (I gotta buy some sunscreen to keep in the car!) Wow...I used to be able to do more rides in a day before my equilibrium screamed STOP IT! I must be getting older.

All in all it was nice, relaxing, spontaneous, fun, and well worth celebrating!

patience

The fruit of the Spirit is....patience. (Galatians 5) And I'm needing the Holy Spirit to produce much more of it in my life. I know because as Roger is out of town, I am finding my patience wearing thin way too much. I just came off a great weekend! So how can I keep from yelling at my kids. Patience! Its scary to ask for it because He will teach you. And learning patience won't be pleasant, I'm afraid. Ah well, I'd rather ask for something hard and hope to learn it quickly than to never learn it at all. I do miss my man~

Herman's Hideaway

I had a lovely girls' weekend with ladies from my SS class. There were 7 of us. We met for dinner in Colorado Springs at a good Mexican restaurant and then headed past Canon City to the Hideaway! We arrived to a beautiful view of the mountains, two great cabins, and a bird nesting in the wreath at the front door.

This bird never got a name, but did try to join in the fun, when we opened the door. After several strange panicky minutes, the girls were able to get the bird back outside. Talk about an interesting start to the night.

Saturday was relaxing. We had a terrific breakfast made by Becky...waffles...but not just any waffles. Blueberry Cashew or Chocolate Chip! We enjoyed Holly's purchase of a a retreat in a box with Beth Moore. Good challenges about love and how to love those in our lives were the topics we looked at. We had wraps for lunch looking out on the mountains and wondered if we might get rain.

Holly and I watched a movie while the others went for a walk. We enjoyed a special worship time led by Ellie. And, the rain came. I was pretty sad about it...because Becky had been preparing the hot tub, and I was afraid it would lightning and thunder for the rest of the night. God cleared it out for a perfect time in the nice relaxing...very unique...tub. After the hottub, I joined some others watching another movie.

Our Sunday was full of adventure as we rafted the Royal Gorge. This was a 4/5 level raft and the water was almost high. Somehow I ended up in the front left...which I found out later is the lead. I got more than my share of water up my nose, but all in all had a ton of fun. It was much too short...but it was father's day, so I couldn't abandon my man all day long. We headed back home with a good mix of relaxation and adventure. The best part was sharing God's love with all 7 ladies and growing with them.

Breaks

This weekend I got a break--a women's retreat at Herman's Hideaway!

Alex broke his bed again today...and Roger's out of town, so it looks like he'll be in the pack and play for the rest of the week.

Not sure how they match up....but

This totally rocks!

So, maybe this has been around a while, but I just found it recently. And I'm really not sure how the music and video match up...the messages seem to be different although not in conflict. It totally took me back to Voltron. Wow! Hadn't thought about that show in a while.

I found the link to it on PhilVischer.com because, if you've seen Larryboy battle a fly, you'll see a similar beginning in the video. But its worth watching the video link above...and it starts off really quiet for a bit, so don't worry about the sound.

OK

So, I had this post in my head, and just as I was pulling up my dashboard to write it, I saw the ticker on Klove say.... Bob Barker retires from "Price" and then my post disappeared.... So, can you believe that he's retiring? Kinda weird since I can remember watching him as a kid.

Anyway, my real post....
I am a part of the Elevation community at GC and one thing I loved about Elevation was the website. Why? you might ask.... Well, it wasn't really the site itself....no disrespect to its creator...but the site was clunky...made with a Mac (gag)...and generally slow. It looked nice...and that's the part I'll miss. They took the pictures for the site on Alex's dedication day. So, many of the pictures (gone now) are of family and friends who were a part of that day. If you go there now, the lower left corner has a man and woman's back...that's my dad and step-mom. Its funny because I doubt they would call Elevation home as they are used to more traditional services. Also, it makes me laugh because my dad won't touch a computer...really...whenever they come up he just says I don't do computers and shuts off the converstation (didn't really help my relationship with him when I was working at MS and my husband does tech for a living). So, sometime in June it will be redone. If you want to see the back of my folks....click here.

A Walk to Remember...

Yesterday was the Walk for Alternatives!
It was a beautiful day for a walk, and this year my family walked with me! In the past I hadn't invited them, but this year I really wasn't sure if anyone else I knew would be walking. I was kind of sad...sitting on the couch at home waiting until it was time to leave. With 10 minutes til departure, Roger decided that he and the kids would accompany me. :) In a mad rush, they got ready, and we headed out the door...a little later than I had planned, but I had someone to walk with me.

When we arrived, it was just about race time! I went to the table to register and ran into Ellie! She had come after all. So, I waited in line, and got my pledges in. They were starting the introduction as I was filling out nametags and grabbed my raffle tickets. I had pretty much given up on winning, of course, since I figured they wouldn't have gotten my tickets in since I was just arriving. They announced a number...and I glanced down to realize it was mine. I won a gift certificate to Tres Margaritas...a great Mexican restaurant...and before I'd even walked over to my family.

I saw this as a blessing from God. You see, I was the church ambassador for my church. That means I had been promoting it by making announcements in Sunday School classes and manning a table after service. I hadn't done a great job. I wanted too, but how I even ended up as ambassador was interesting in itself. So, I felt like a big failure, but I think this was God telling me that I did ok with the time I had available. Thanks God!

The walk was great and afterwards, the reward for the family was Elitch's for a couple of hours. It was a busy day with a grad party for Brittany and Meghan in the evening, but the whole day ended up being nice. My favorite part was walking the familiar walk and knowing more babies will see life this year because of my participation.
