a thick-skinned several-celled reddish berry that is about the size of an orange and has many seeds with pulpy crimson arils of tart flavor Webster.com

Pomegranates are really cool. They taste fun, and its a little work to eat them which makes them fun for snacking on a lazy day. Always remember to wear dark clothes and expect some stains on your fingers. I've heard you can buy just the arils...but I think that would take some of the fun out of it. Strangely, I don't like the pomegranate juice that is on the market, but I've gotta have at least 1 good Pomegranate each winter.

I have recently become aware of the many uses of pomegranates. I have never actually tasted one, but i think that i will very soon. Are they in season in the winter? I ask casue you said every winter you have to have at least one good one each winter.
