Pet Peeve

Whoever thought that carpeting an eating area in a small home was a good idea needs to be sent to all those homes to clean the said carpet with a toothbrush after watching small children cover it in yogurt and applesauce.

Paranoia

The bad thing about having an English degree is that I see symbolism all around me. Take this for example.

In my head when I woke up Sunday--Third Day song about praising God in the storm.
In Marriage Matters--we talk about loss of relationships (among other things)
At Elevation--we talk about why bad things happen to good people
In a parenting email--how to talk to your toddler about death
In a scripture email--No matter what happens, always be thankful, for this is God's will for you who belong to Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:18, NLT View in context

OK, so God could be trying to warn me about something...but it is making me totally paranoid. How do I not worry with all these signs staring at me?

For those who need it...

a slice of Colorado for your day.

I'm not necessarily endorsing the links on the page...just the daily picture.

You use the weak to lead the strong!

Wow! This is so true. Roger and I have been a part of a great community of believers since we got married...it has grown and changed a ton. Now with some changes in life for some friends, we have been asked to be on the leadership team. This is something we have not taken on in the past due to our calling to working with youth. Well, God confirmed to us that He is asking us to invest in Marriage Matters (our community name). I feel very weak...humbled. Its a good place to be. We've worked with youth all of our married life, and we plan to continue to work with High School by involvement in a small group this year. But it is so familiar. I can see already how God is going to use our new role to make me more dependent on Him. Its exciting, scary, challenging, and very cool! Thanks God for loving me enough to not let me stagnate.

Yo ho, yo ho

I finally got to see the movie. I thought it was entertaining...its definitely a middle movie of a trilogy. I like the first one better....more romantic. This one has action, craziness, but it leaves so many loose ends. But of course! That way I really feel the need to see 3 next summer.

:)

I will grow tall like Daddy. He's huge; like Superman

Am I the only one who sees this as a bit much?

Check out what kids are getting in their happy meals.

My daughter is 3....Pirates is PG-13. Why would they make this a promotion for young kids who should not see the movie? Don't tell me that it is just promoting the ride...I just don't buy it.

Of course, this hasn't detered me from ordering them...since I rarely check what toys are given out before ordering what with trying to corral 2 toddlers....we have gotten three Pirates (capn jack) and haven't seen any of the other toys. SO thankful we didn't get a skeleton.

I am excited to see the movie anyway...maybe this weekend. I didn't need them to promote to my kids to get my attention.

Guess the movie....

There's only one way to eat a brace of coneys.
Nothing dampens your spirits..... Those storm clouds might.
DON'T follow the lights!
Raw and Wriggling
I seem to have found the bottom.
Open war is upon you...whether you would risk it or not.
87
The grey pilgrim...that was what they used to call me.
The closer we are to danger, the farther we are from harm.

*sigh*

Roger goes back to work next week. Its been so nice having him home. I think Katrina will find it particularly hard as she has become a big daddy's girl. Today I came home from work, and they were playing Star Wars on the Xbox together. They even briefly acknowledged me before going on with their game. I'm afraid of next week...

I'm workin'

Well, I started my great very part-time job on Friday. It went well. Only complaint is that only 2 out of 6 moms showed up. Hopefully more will be there next week. I need to get on the ball and start scheduling my guest speakers. This week is infant massage. Last week was planning for college...no its not too late to start planning for your infant's college. Anyway, I'm excited about this opportunity, and looking forward to getting to know these new moms.

Secret Ambition

Smitty is my idea of what David was like in the Bible. Obviously I don't know him, but he seems to me to have a real heart after God. He's a musician, and not perfect, but someone who desires God to get the glory for what he is doing. I had been wanting to see him in concert for a while, and finally, the day came! So, he played a few oldies--like Secret Ambition--and a bunch of new ones from his upcoming album (OK, so they aren't really albums anymore, are they?) plus a good smattering of worship music! I think my favorite part, though, was that he was the host for the evening...so he introduced all the other groups...and for the first 2 sets, which were short, he stayed on the side of the stage...right in view from our seats. It was interesting to see him enjoying the music along with us. Good reminder that he is just like us.

Maybe someday someone I know will be famous....like Elida Young and then I'll watch from another perspective.

Yeah, so you can't tell by the photo. But we were 2nd row (not center) for the Smitty concert last night. Roger let me borrow his camara phone, but the resolution got messed up, so you really can't see MWS from this picture. *sigh* We're still such newbies!

Dear Lord,

On this our Independence Day, remind us to be dependent on You. As other nations see us as a representative of You, let us bring You glory. Knowing you see our moral decay, please have mercy on us. Let Your people share Your good news not only abroad but also in our own beloved land. Please grant our leaders wisdom and godly counsel that our nation would bless You and be a blessing.

Amen

Do you have what it takes....

to become a US Citizen? I got 85% and passed...my hubby got 90%. Yay! We get to stay!

Rain, rain....PLEASE go away

So, now that I've baked 2 cakes for my baby's 1st birthday, I read the weather to see that Thunderstorms are predicted. :P We rented a pavilion at a park...and we don't have an alternative place to meet....our townhouse is way too small. Please pray that from 6-7:30 there would at least be no thunder and lightning!
