A word about online surveys

In a desperate moment last October, I signed up on a website (and I'm sorry to say I actually paid money) to get information on online surveys. "People are making a good living taking surveys" I don't believe in these fictional people.

Well, if you'd like to know what I have gained from my survey taking in the last 11 months--Maybe $30 and a shampoo and conditioner sample, and 269 junk email in the last 24 hours. That doesn't count what actually gets through my filter which a promptly delete.

Online surveys are great if you just want to give companies your opinion. If, however, you'd like to be compensated for your opinions, it is basically like the lottery....is the amount of money (or in the case of surveys--valuable time) you spend really going to pay off? It's a gamble.

I do have a few sites I regularly take surveys for, so if you ever want to do it, I'll refer you and you won't have to pay me a dime. Just post a comment and I'll hook you up.

I had formulated all these great things to post. Now, I'm sitting here looking at my newborn son, and I can't remember a single one of them.

This is what happens when you have a child...you think less clearly because you donate brain cells to your kid (don't argue biology with me on this) and your remaining cells are required for remembering when you last fed and changed him or her. Pretty sure I've heard this from multiple moms--particularly my sister-in-law Renee Schultz.

So, kids, remember...your parents donated some of those brain cells to you...give them a break!

The person I know who most needs a blog is Emily Leinbach. Why does she need a blog more than your average joe? Well, she has intellect and humor that come together in a totally amazing way. In fact, I remember ALWAYS loving her letters even when we were in Jr. High. I've known her for 31 years, so I guess I would know.

So, why do I have a blog if she is the one who really needs one? Well, because somebody had to start the trend, and I've always been a trendsetter (NOT). Basically because I like to write.

So Blogger is free, MLE, so now you just need to find a reliable connection to the net and get started. I'll link to your blog as soon as you get one, so all these nice people (ok, so I have no audience yet) can read your brilliance.

There is nothing new under the sun. King Solomon

I've always feared really writing because there is nothing I can say that is truly new. My thoughts are a conglomeration of the people I've heard speak, the things I've read, and how they all come together in my head. But the mix of them is unique to me, so if I put something down in a post, I'm not claiming it is new....just remixed by my mind. May I never fail to give credit where it is due...if I can remember where I heard it first.
